It has always been a firm belief in the Catholic heart that Our Lady STOOD at the the foot of the Cross (and during the Way of the Cross). Ignorants or protestants try in vain to confuse her with Saint Marie-Magdeleine
Certainly Our Lady cried but she never passed out. Certainly the spear pierced his heart with this wound of love prophesied by Simeon, but Notre Dame never fell.
Her strength comes from her humility and her purity. Nothing about her has ever stood resist to the grace. With her, each plot, each lineament, each thought says Fiat with each breath.
"Yes, she was standing at the foot of the Cross like a priest at the altar and offering her Son to appease the sky" (Marian praise)
Our Lady had under her tears an expression of painful and loving firmness.
She was pure and could not fail. While repentance tortured the loving Marie-Madeleine, shattered by pain, Saint John, the one who was a virgin also stood.
We Catholics know and believe that she has been co-redeemer since her very first Fiat.
Our Lady knew the Scriptures well - Isaiah in particular - she knew how the Messiah was to die. And later at the Temple, Simeon will remind her. She nourished, loved, adored, served him, knowing that he was her God and that he was going to die for ungrateful humanity. Yes, her martyrdom lasted 33 years. Only the Very Mother of God can survive this.
So from one "foolishness" to the other, she is co-redemptive. You are late
said Saint Therese of Avila to the demon appearing at the foot of his agony bed to accuse her.
Well, Mr. all dressed in white, you come too late, we know and we cherish what the Church has always taught : "She is co-redemptrice. »
Holy and Merry Christmas!
